Grammy’s Yeast Rolls

 2 packets active dry yeast
 2 ½ cups very warm water
 ½ cup vegetable oil
 ½ cup sugar
 2 tsp salt
 7 cups all purpose flour
 1 egg (beaten)

Dissolve 2 packets of yeast in 1/2 cup of warm water and set aside.


In a large bowl, mix oil, sugar, salt, and 2 cups of very warm water. Then, add yeast mixture and stir.


Add 3-4 cups of flour and stir until dough becomes smooth. Add one beaten egg and stir again.


Keep adding flour a cup at a time until dough becomes very stiff. About 4 or 5 cups.


Once dough is stiff, knead in bowl (with hands) adding flour if sticky. Then, turn out onto floured surface and knead until smooth. About 5 minutes.


Place dough into greased mixing bowl and cover with kitchen towel. Allow dough to rise double.


Once dough is double in size, punch down and pinch into buns (about the size of a large egg). Place buns 2 inches apart on greased baking sheets. Cover with kitchen towels and allow to rise double again.


Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Brush tops with melted butter and bake for 6-8 minutes. Buns should be a slight golden brown on top and not too dark on bottom.


Remove from oven and brush with melted butter again. Enjoy!
